    Natural Beauty Can Be Bought!

    naturalmakeup

With some of the extra time I have had on my hands lately, I’ve been experimenting with different ways of implementing self-care: from journaling, to researching ways to support the immune system, exercising, and making fun yet nutritious meals. The one thing I have tended to ignore, as I normally do, is my “looks”.

If you’ve read some of my other posts, I am huge on natural and holistic skincare. Essential oils, serums, lotions….anything I can do to maintain the integrity of my skin and fight the hands of Father Time. What I’m not great at is hair, makeup, manis/pedis and all that. I will go to a salon maybe once a year to re-shape my mane. I’ve had a total of 5 mani/pedis in my entire lifetime (not counting a few that I had on-set for modeling jobs), and aside from concealer and mascara, I really don’t wear make-up. I don’t get facials, or go to an esthetician. Low-maintenance all the way…which has actually been great now that everything is shut down. I haven’t even had to give a thought about when I get to start looking a certain way again!

So…when my friend, Johanna, sent me a few makeup samples from an amazing company called Crunchi I decided I might as well doll myself up a little. You know….in the name of self-care, of course! Johanna, like me, is all about natural and holistic health and lifestyle. When she told me about Crunchi I was immediately interested because the company promises to deliver high quality cosmetics and skincare that are clean, made without chemicals or toxins, and do not test on animals. The more I started to find out about Crunchi, the more I was sold on the products. Everything is made with safe, organic, and EcoCert ingredients and the company was founded by two moms, one of which is a certified nurse practitioner, and both avid healthy lifestyle advocates. Seemed too good to be true, but this company is the real deal!

Even though I don’t wear much makeup, I thought it would be a great idea to really check Crunchi out since my daughter is 13 and occasionally wears makeup for her dance performances. I assume as she gets older she might want to dabble with cosmetics as well….and I definitely would want her to be able to use products that are not full of carcinogens, or endocrine disruptors, which can cause all forms of reproductive, organ, and neurological damage. Seems too high a price to pay for beauty…especially since we are already bombarded with chemicals from practically all sides. Did you know that there are over 1,300 toxic chemicals that are banned from use in Europe, but only 30 of those are banned for use in cosmetics in the US? Yeah….food for thought.

Anyways, after telling me how much she was enjoying the products, Johanna offered to send me two eyeshadows, blush, and a gloss. How could I turn that offer down? The first thing I noticed was the packaging. Simple yet esthetic and clearly well made. There seems to be a notion that “natural” makeup is not as “well made” as the brand names you can buy in store. That perhaps the pigments are not strong, the powders not smooth, etc. I found the opposite to be true with Crunchi cosmetics. The eyeshadows and blush had perfect pigment….great long lasting colors that went on smoothly and lasted all day. They can also be layered to create a stronger effect. The lipgloss was gorgeous as well. It went on like a dream, hydrated my lips for hours, gave just the right amount of color and was not sticky or tacky like most other glosses I have tried. I was impressed….naturally!

I look forward to following this company to see what other amazing products they come up with and will definitely be trying more of their products. Everything you put on your skin is absorbed into your body, so why use products that will load you up with junk that can and will affect your overall health? With alternatives like the ones offered by Crunchi, there is no excuse to not give yourself the natural beauty you deserve. In this case, natural beauty can actually be bought!
