The Benefits of Using Fulvic Acid.

    benefitsoffulvicacid

Ok guys, I have a new form of acid I’m trippin’ on…and if you’ve already been a part of the Adulthood Rewired community, then you’ll know I’m not talking about anything illicit. I do like a good pun though. 😉

Several months ago I wrote about how much I love hyaluronic acid and what it does to keep my skin healthy. Well, little did I know that, fast forward to now, I would be singing the praises of yet another acid. Fulvic acid. It’s not something you put on your skin, but it does help keep it healthy along with pretty much benefitting every other part of your body.

To be honest, I can’t remember what exactly I was reading to turn me on to this stuff, but whatever random blurb I saw had me back into research mode. I am huge on nutrition and healthy living, but I also know that no matter how well we eat, so much of our food comes from soil that has been completely depleted from essential minerals. So, when we eat a salad, it all looks good, but the stuff in that bowl isn’t the same as the salad ingredients our ancestors would’ve been able to eat. So many of us in the United States are mineral deficient regardless of how healthily we think we are eating….which is why sometimes it’s not a bad idea to supplement your diet with things like fulvic acid.

Fulvic acid (which I’ll call FA from here on out) is considered a nutrition booster and is derived from organic compounds found in soil, rocks, and sediment. It’s produced when plant matter decomposes releasing millions of beneficial bacteria. Because it is an active chemical compound, when we take FA it allows us to better absorb nutrients like fatty acids, minerals, and antioxidants. This in turn gives our bodies the ability to really take in what’s important from our foods and supplements while at the same time slowing down the aging process due to the fact that it allows us to better use the antioxidants we consume.

Along with anti aging properties and the ability to help us get the most bang out of our diets, FA has also been attributed to better brain and gut health. Studies have shown that FA has nutraceutical and antioxidant compounds that bolster cognitive health and protect against cognitive impairments like Alzheimers. It also contains silica, trace minerals, electrolytes, probiotics and prebiotics all of which help restore the gut micro biome, and increase metabolic function allowing for better digestion and a strengthened immune system.

As if that weren’t enough, FA has also been used for natural chelation therapy as it naturally binds and breaks down toxins and metals that accumulate in our bodies due to environmental, medical, and even food exposures. Once FA comes into contact with metals it helps them become more water soluble, enabling our bodies to better discard them. The natural occurring carboxylates and phenolates found in FA and other humic acids also help regulate the metals we are exposed to including iron and copper.

Also, because FA is such a rich source of electrolytes and antioxidants, it allows our bodies to naturally slow down the aging process as well as raise energy levels, ward off free radical damage, and reduce inflammation. Research has shown that FA improves cellular and muscular function, and helps your cells absorb the amount of minerals they need while discarding what they don’t by working as an ion transmitter. On a historical level, FA has been used to treat skin disorders ranging from eczema to bug bites, and fungal infections. Maybe that’s why I was so attracted to this stuff…it multi-tasks almost as much as I do!

How can you take FA? Probably the easiest and most effectively absorbed would be liquid drops. I have to warn you that this stuff tastes like dirt (I wonder why?? Ha!) but if you’re already into the whole celery juice thing, then you’re used to less than appealing libations. I just add a dropper full to a small glass of pineapple or grapefruit juice and down it like shot of bad whisky.

Honestly though, this could taste like scat and I would still take it…the benefits are ridiculously great (trust me, I’ve only given you a bite sized amount of info) and I figure this body of mine needs all the help it can get after all the stress I’ve put it through…and because I live in a toxic soup for now…..we kind of all do. So yeah, give me my liquified rock-plant matter-soily stuff and I’ll drink to all of our good health!

    Here’s the brand I use:
