    Rewiring Easter Baskets…For Adults!

    eastergiftguide

I don’t know about the rest of you, but Easter baskets lost their appeal once I entered adulthood. For a few years, while the kids were small, I had a blast building the perfect collection of small gifts for their baskets (all the store made ones were too much of a sugar buffet…and you already know how I am about that!).

Then the teen years rolled around and gift giving for this Spring-y holiday just wasn’t the same anymore. I mean, they still get treats but the whole “magic” of it all has gone the way of Santa, the Tooth Fairy and…of course…the Bunny himself. I found myself on a never-ending search for meaningful gifts that would be small enough to fit in a basket yet not the typical junk that would end up in the furthest reaches of their desk or nightstand drawers.

It was on this gifting inspiration mission that I started thinking it was high time we rewire Easter baskets and start giving them to each other…as adults….as well! I mean….why not, right? We work hard. We deserve to have something to look forward to on Easter morning just as much as our kids do. Maybe we even deserve it more than they do ha! 😉

I figure, this is as good a time as any to put together an assortment of small but useful treats to give to the adults in our lives that we love (or to give to ourselves for that matter!!). Spring is a time of rebirth and renewal and some useful tokens that inspire us to care for ourselves (body, skin, and mind) seems the perfect, if not logical, thing to do. So, I say it’s high time we rewire Easter baskets….for adults!

Let me give you some inspiration if you need it….the basket itself can be the quirky full on pastel colored visual cacophony of chicks, lambs, and bunnies you can find at your local Target….or you can go the sophisticated Modern Farmhouse or MCM route and make sure the basket can be repurposed as home decor (I personally love this route myself in case anyone reading this wants to drop of a basket at my house…ahem…). You can even use a gift bag….but what goes inside is really where things get good.

I’ve put together a list of some treasures I’ve had cross my path that would make the perfect adult Easter basket goodies….stuff that is good for you, completely useful, and fun to receive! So, get your shopping list out because here goes…..

Bell’s Cookies: No Easter basket is complete without at least a little sweetness, right? That’s why I absolutely love the idea of adding Bell’s Cookies to any basket you gift. Voted the Best Cookies of Washington (they come from Seattle….you know there’s a piece of my heart in the PNW!) and I can tell you that they deserve that acclaim! These cookies come in 12 of the most drool-worthy flavors and brought out the cookie monster in me the second my first box arrived in the mail. Carefully and individually wrapped, these circles of delight deserve to be shared (if you can bear to part with them haha!). I can’t tell you which flavor is my favorite because I love them all….and so will you. Find them at BELL’S COOKIE CO.

Eco Lips: Spring and summer means time to make sure your lips are feeling healthy and healing from harsh winter conditions…and what better way to do that than to give and receive some delicious, organic, non-GMO, Fair Trade Certified lip balms and lip treatments?! Their lip scrub and lip mask are a game changer and have worked wonders on my lips even though they’re exposed to hard water, heat, and dry desert weather year round. They have vegan options and use some of the most skin loving botanicals in their formulations. This company loves the earth and your skin will love their balms. Find them at ECO LIPS.

Bug Soother: I know this doesn’t sound like your typical gift…but trust me it will be greatly appreciated! With Spring comes bugs. A lot of bugs. Too many bugs. The problem with regular bug repellants is that so many of them are made with ingredients that aren’t just toxic to those critters…but they’re toxic to us too. No bueno. Bug Soother is a natural, DEET- free, plant based insect repellent that actually smells good and is great for your skin. The fact that you can use it on yourself, your kids…and even your pets just makes it all the better. Plus, they also make a wonderful bug repellant candle that’s also totally natural. Perfect for the Easter basket….because who wants mosquitos messing up your holiday?! Oh…and Bug Soother is also made by the wonderful folks at Eco Lips! Find it here: BUG SOOTHER.

CRYSTAL Deodorant: Another thing that comes along with warmer weather….is sweat. Inevitable, but at least we have some great options to keep us feeling and smelling fresh without compromising our wellness! Crystal deodorant is vegan and cruelty free, aluminum free, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, non irritating, and it’s one of the most effective natural deodorants I’ve used to date! It even works beautifully on my daughter who has super sensitive skin….this stuff is amazing because it is serious heat, workout and stress proof with 24 hour odor control and you don’t have to worry about any messy residue on your skin or clothes! Find it at CRYSTAL DEODORANT

Pirani Life: Pirani Life makes the cutest, sturdiest, most useful party tumblers ever! Think high-end keg cup that actually looks great and you never have to throw away! These 16 ounce tumblers are made out of stainless steel and are washable and reusable. They also are triple insulated which means your mimosa or cerveza will stay cold for up to 12 hours….and if you’re a coffee/tea kind of person….it’ll keep those hot bevs toasty for up to 6 hours. Love this in my life! (I mean, if you have kids you already know that every drink loses its temperature on your never-ending juggling of everything parenthood related….so you NEED these tumblers!!). Find them at PIRANI LIFE

Ecologie Dish Sponges: Ok, so these are NOT your grandma’s dish sponges! Ecologie Dish Sponges are so esthetically pleasing you’ll actually want to display them in your kitchen. They come in so many cute and fun designs and the best part is that they’ll save you tons of time and money not having to use and discard of soooo many paper towels. These dish sponges double as paper towels and can used and re-used to your heart’s content. Made in Sweden using non-toxic inks…these are the perfect little Easter basket addition! Find them at ECOLOGIE DISH SPONGES

Pure Synergy Matcha Power: I wrote a post a few months ago about Pure Synergy and their incredible, all-natural supplements. I absolutely love how I have felt after adding them to my daily health regimen, so you can imagine how excited I was to find out about their Matcha Power! Matcha has ten times the antioxidants of tea and Pure Synergy’s Matcha is not only pure….it is organic Japanese ceremonial grade matcha green tea with zero additives. Pure pure pure. What is not to love! This is what I call giving the gift of health because matcha is beneficial for so many aspects of your wellness. Find it at PURE SYNERGY MATCHA POWER

Kapri Candles: I love candles. I can never have too many candles and I’m pretty sure most of us feel this way too! The thing is, I’m not a fan of most of the types of candles you find in stores….synthetic scents and poor burning wicks are a definite mood killer. That’s why I adore Kapri Candles. They are made of 100% soy wax and are vegan and cruelty-free with no additives which means you can burn them knowing there are no carcinogens, phthalates, toxins or mutagens floating around your home. Plus, you know what else I love about them? They each come with an affirmation which pretty much makes these candles two gifts in one! Love this for the Easter basket! Find them at KAPRI CANDLES

Fernweh Editions Candles: Like I said, you can never have too many candles….and Fernweh Editions makes candles close to my heart with their travel-inspired scents which makes my every wanderlusting heart so happy! As a matter of fact, Fernweh means a longing for travel in German and reminds me of my college days in Salzburg….it’s when I first learned that word! These candles are hand poured and made in small batches to ensure quality. Not only are they gorgeous, they are also toxin free made with a coconut soy wax blend which means you can safely scent your home while dreaming of adventures you’ve had or are still to have! Find them at FERNWEH EDITIONS

Alabaster Co. Books: Last but far from least are two beautiful books from Alabaster Co….Book of Psalms and Book of Proverbs. After all, Easter bunnies and dyed eggs aside, it’s important to remember and recognize our faith on this special day. Alabaster Co. makes truly beautiful and artistic Bible and devotion based books with an esthetic that will fit perfectly in any home and every heart. Their books are also 100% carbon neutral made via sustainable practices…making them as good for the earth as they are for the soul. Find them at ALABASTER CO.

There you have it! Some of my favorite small-gift ideas perfect for rewiring Easter baskets so that we can start gifting them to the adults in our lives! I truly love all of these items and the companies that make them. When you craft products with meaning and a passion for people and the earth…then you get all my love (and my money ha!).

I would love to hear your ideas of what you think would be a great addition to an adult Easter basket (keep it clean, folks…or not haha!)….I would love to update this list every year with new and special treats for us non-kids (yet perhaps still kids at heart!). In the meantime, Happy Spring and Happy Easter!
