Moms Need To Stay Healthy Too!

healthy moms

Wow! I just realized that I’ve been away from my blog for a hot minute…and I get the feeling that I am going to let you all in on what has been taking up ALL of my time the past few months. I just won’t do that right now….that’ll be a post unto itself because, lord, do I have A LOT to catch you up on. Summer madness, half empty-nesting preparations, hitting 49, raising teens, work, life, laundry, and deciding to start a business at my ripe old age. Like I said, it’s a lot and my next post will break it all down!

For today, I’ve decided that I really needed to sit down and have a little written convo about how important it is for us moms (and dads) to stay healthy as we approach Back-To-School season. I have always been heavily focused on making sure that my kids’ immune systems were iron-clad and ready to be dropped into the petri dish that all schools are, and while I still do this, I have also now made it a point to do the same for myself. After all, whatever your kids are exposed to at school, they are likely to bring home….and guess who doesn’t have time to feel under the weather? Yeah, moms.

I’ve written a few posts in my earlier days of Adulthood Rewired about the things I use to keep my kids healthy, and a few other posts on things I use around the house and for myself as well. Today, I wanted to give you a bit of an updated and more comprehensive list, because I’m setting up my mama-health-arsenal as we speak, and you know I am not one to gatekeep!

So, we moms are always the first to come to the rescue when anyone in the home falls ill. If we’re lucky, we escape the pathogen buffet and stay well….but, more often than not, we fall face first into flus and viruses without the luxury of getting to nap all day, go to bed early, or have anyone make us a nice, steaming hot bowl of garlic laced chicken soup. We might be hitting 104 degrees of fever and STILL making sure our kids make it to the school drop-off zone on time. It’s brutal, but it’s motherhood, so hey….in order to save ourselves some of this brutality, I super highly recommend trying some of these products that I swear by. They have kept me healthy and, in some cases, holding onto my youthfulness, regardless of whatever new variant of yuck our kids may bring home!

Krill Oil: This stuff is a tiny powerhouse for your immune system! Bursting with omega-3 fatty acids, phospholipids, astaxanthin, and antioxidants, krill oil is like a superhero cape for your immunity. It reduces inflammation and provides your body with the tools it needs to fend off those pesky pathogenic invaders. Not only does it amp up the resilience of your immune cells, but it also adds a dose of vitality to your overall well-being. So, krill oil is a definite must have and deserves its place on your supplement shelf! I really love Native Path’s Antarctic Krill Oil because it is wild-caught and sustainably sourced. Find yours here: KRILL OIL

Moringa: This superfood isn’t just a trendy fad; it’s a true champion when it comes to boosting your immune system. Packed with a powerhouse of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, moringa gives your immune cells a high-five, making sure they’re ready to tackle anything that comes their way. Vitamins like A, C, and E join forces to strengthen your body’s defense mechanisms, while the plant’s natural compounds help zap away those unwanted free radicals. I use this mixed into a smoothie every other day, and it’s fantastic! You can find my favorite brand of certified organic Moringa here: MORINGA

Collagen: I’ve written about collagen before to share on what it’s done for my skin, hair and nails….but did you know it’s great for immune support as well? It is! Collagen is a secret weapon for your immune system. Not only does it work wonders on your skin and joints, but it also has the sneaky side hustle of boosting your immunity. How? Well, collagen is like the glue that holds your body together, including your gut lining. And guess what? A happy gut equals a happy immune system. By supporting gut health, collagen keeps the lines of communication open between your immune cells, helping them coordinate their defenses against viral invaders. So, now you have an even bigger reason to add collagen to your diet (as if looking better wasn’t enough ha!). I have to give a shout out to Native Path again for their line of collagen peptides which dissolve easily and come in delicious flavors like Chocolate, Matcha Latte, and plain too! Find them here: COLLAGEN

Glutamine: This unsung hero of amino acids does more than just muscle repair; it’s a backstage VIP pass to a stronger immune system. Glutamine fuels the cells in your gut lining, creating a cozy environment where your immune warriors can thrive. By keeping the gut barrier in tip-top shape, glutamine prevents unwanted invaders from sneaking in and causing trouble. Imagine it as a shield for your body, defending against the common cold’s attempts to crash the party. So, whether you’re an active soul or just keen on supporting your immune health, glutamine is here to remind you that a little amino acid love can go a long way in keeping you feeling vibrant and strong! This is the kind I use: GLUTAMINE

Chlorophyll: Packed with antioxidants, this green goodness helps neutralize those pesky free radicals that can throw your immune system off balance. Plus, chlorophyll supports your body’s natural detoxification process, ensuring that your immune cells are in a clean and serene environment to work their best. So, when you enjoy your leafy greens or sip on a chlorophyll-packed drink, or pop a few chlorophyll tablets, you’re not just indulging in nature’s beauty, but giving your immune system a high-five too! These are the tablets I use: CHLOROPHYLL

So, my mom friends (and really anyone else reading this who wants to stay healthy!)….these are 5 simple but powerfully effective products to keep your feeling good during the madness of back-to-school and all of the germs that this season brings along for the ride. Added benefit being that, pretty much all of these supplements have great anti-aging compounds (and yes, I know the term anti-aging is now fodder for getting cancelled, but I am 49 and have no time to censor myself on these matters lol!).

Happy almost-Fall….and here’s to staying ABOVE the weather! 😉

I am a big fan of collagen — add it to my “Moms need to stay healthy (and Grandmas too)” morning protien breakfast shake. Collagen makes a big difference in how my body feels.

This is a wonderful list of things moms need to stay healthy! I’ve been thinking about taking collagen. I already make homemade morning protein shakes. Do you think I could just add some to it?

It’s crazy how quick the bugs start flying around once school starts! I hope your little is feeling better and that you escaped from getting it! 🙂

I agree that Moms need to stay healthy too. If you don’t take care of yourself then you are unable to help take care of others.
